Podcast Release Date: August, 2025

In this episode of myFace, myStory, host Dina Zuckerberg sits down with filmmaker Joseph Lingad and actor Corey Taylor for a conversation about visibility, vulnerability, and self-acceptance. Joseph shares how his personal experiences living with a facial difference inspired his upcoming documentary Don’t Look Away, exploring representation and stigma in our society. Corey opens up about his journey through over 50 craniofacial surgeries and how he turned pain into purpose by pursuing writing, caregiving, and acting. Together, they discuss the importance of authentic storytelling, challenging assumptions, and embracing life unapologetically.

Joseph started his career as a camera assistant on TV shows, commercials, and narrative films in 2008. He got his break in journalism in 2011 when he was hired as a videographer by The Wall Street Journal, and soon after began producing personal financial videos. He worked with its sister companies, MarketWatch and Barron’s, until 2022, developing various news stories from income inequality to the student loan crisis to America’s epidemic of loneliness. Joseph gravitates to stories about social and socioeconomic issues and corporate accountability.

After a decade working in a newsroom, Joseph returned to school in 2022 to obtain a master’s in business and economics reporting, specializing in documentary. While at school, Joseph developed a 36-minute version of “Don’t Look Away” as his Capstone project under the guidance of award-winning filmmakers Yoruba Richen, Judith Helfand, Sabrina Gordon, and others.

Joseph is now working on a feature-length version of “Don’t Look Away,” inspired by his struggle living with a facial difference. He hopes to have a final cut by early 2026.

However, he refuses to let that stop him from living his best life.

From a full-time caregiver for his loved ones to moving out to writing two books, and starting an acting career, Corey is both eager and excited to see where things go.
