‘Stranger Things’ star Gaten Matarazzo was born with cleidocranial dysplasia, a genetic disorder affecting the development of the bones and teeth. Like so many of our myFace patients, Gaten realized that this is what makes him special and believes that his uniqueness even helped him land the beloved fan-favorite role of Dustin in the Netflix series.

Dr. Staffenberg, vice chair of pediatric plastic surgery at NYU Langone Health, explains more about the condition and how wonderful it is that kids with craniofacial differences have a character like Dustin that they can relate to on the small screen.
