To all of the fundraising teams, supporters, donors and virtual walkers who came together, we thank YOU! We would also like to extend our gratitude to our donating vendors and sponsors for your generosity &amp; help in making this event a success.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">This year we had over 600 registered walkers<br \/>\nand raised over $160,000!<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20247884_1547308231978946_5036802279183540921_o-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our annual walk included a Family Carnival where there were lots of games and activities for\u00a0children as well as adults to enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20280511_1547372195305883_8813017231989579420_o-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This casual 2K Walk was perfect for people who like to do something meaningful while having fun with friends and family. With part of the route along the scenic Riverside Park, it gave us a greater amount of visibility to raise awareness for the craniofacial community. 100% of the funds raised will go toward urgently needed medical, surgical, dental and psychosocial services for all our craniofacial patients.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20248026_1547370585306044_6946336570423150207_o-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were so excited to have meteorologist from Channel 7 Eyewitness News, Jeff Smith, as our Master of Ceremonies for the day! They are true champions as exemplified by their strength, courage and passion. Bruce, father of Hannah and Bari (both were born with Treacher Collins Syndrome), shared: \u201cThroughout this journey, myFace has been there for our entire family. We\u2019ve attended almost every holiday party, numerous family receptions, parent support meetings, bowling parties, Races for Faces and participated in many fundraisers and video projects\u2026 It often feels like myFace should be called myFamily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20232922_1546362828740153_3044093185827890813_o.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hannah then expressed her feeling about myFace: \u201cmyFace means a lot to me. Every time I have a surgery they help me and my family prepare for it. When I go to myFace events I feel like I am comfortable to be myself because I am with people just like me.\u201d<br \/>\nWe want to thank Hannah and the Klein family for their kind words and incredible support throughout the years.<\/p>\n<p>We got a chance to ask a few walkers to learn about what inspired and motivated them to sign up.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FmyFaceFoundation%2Fphotos%2Fa.1546361955406907.1073741880.154869427889507%2F1546370902072679%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"337\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Arielle from this year&#8217;s Most Spirited Team, Kiran\u2019s crew, celebrated her first Races for Faces. She explained what brought her to come and support: \u201cI knew about this Race through my mother\u2019s coworker, Dana. It was the first time for me finding out about craniofacial conditions. It was an inspiring race to join and I\u2019m happy to have participated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20294513_1546381585404944_2902851138376023064_n-1-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Kyleman team was once again the largest fundraising team for this year and were awarded the Top Fundraising team award.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20247649_1546368892072880_8840221408783992170_o.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>James, pictured above, celebrates his grandson, Kyle\u2019s 5th Races for Faces. What an impressive feat!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myface.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20247880_1547301795312923_6241722637265053629_o-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Races for Faces featured a new and fun challenge: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myfacepiechallenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myFace Pie challenge<\/a>! Participants were encouraged to challenge a friend(s) to donate to myFace\u2019s mission or accept the consequence of getting pied in the face.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fvivian.hwang1%2Fvideos%2F10103465522786958%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=204\" width=\"204\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The author of Somewhere Beneath, Vivian Hwang, who has been inspired by myFace\u2019s mission, was proud to raise awareness for the craniofacial community. Here is her message she shared with her Facebook fans: \u201cMyFace has been a very important organization to me, and I am very happy to have represented them this year during my author events. She explained: \u201cI think that we live in a world that is very judgmental on the way people look. However, we must remember that a person&#8217;s physical appearance is only one aspect of their existence. Behind every face, there are multiple dimensions of thoughts, feelings, and opinions that are yet to be discovered if we only have the compassion, empathy, and understanding to do so. If we really want to know the people around us, we must spend time talking with them, laughing with them, comforting them, and helping them.
